Safety Systems & Controls, Inc. (SSC) specializes in the design of Shift Inhibitors and Interlocks that reduce the likelihood of accidents and equipment abuse....and the resulting injury to persons and damage to vehicles and facilities.

Early on (1981), SSC specialized in the design of engine protection systems for heavy equipment.  We were heavily involved in the refuse industry with strong ties to Waste Management and a number of municipalities.  These ties led to the development of our first transmission shift inhibitor system in the mid-1980's.  While the design of the early shift inhibitors was solid, it was redesigned in the mid-1990's into SSC's patented TRANS-STOP TM product line.  The results were improved quality, lower costs and greater versatility.

These early ties to the refuse industry also led to the development of brake interlock systems on over-the-road trucks.  We took this early knowledge and tweaked it and one of the results is SSC's PED-Lok TM Loading Brake System for school buses.  PED-Lok TM provides a greater measure of safety for children in the "loading zone". 

The success of the TRANS-STOP TM mechanical shift linkage system led to the development of DOT-Lok TM shift inhibitors for electric shift vehicles.  Initial design work started in 1997 and production in 1998.  This product is being widely used on fork trucks.

Again, one product leads to another.  Our DOT-Lok product line has been a great success.  These same DOT-Lok customers have pushed us into the development of a speed limiter for fork trucks.  Why do customers come to Safety Systems to help them solve problems?  Because we are able to quickly develop solutions at a reasonable cost.   In fact, most of our products were developed to help customers solve a problem.  We welcome all inquiries.

Much of our experience comes from the service side and while quality remains our number one goal, special attention is given to "ease of installation".  It is our belief if we can save the customer installation time and aggravation, our products are an even greater VALUE.  If we do not have a product in our area of expertise that meets your needs, we will either develop one for you or put you in touch with a company that already produces it or a similar product.  That is our PLEDGE to you!
