For safety reasons, more and more forklifts are being purchased with top speed limiters. While this is a good first step, most companies do not replace all their forklifts at one time, leaving a mix of slow and fast trucks.  This can create safety issues of its own as retrofitting older mechanical governor trucks to run the same speed as the newer trucks has not been a good option.  GOOD NEWS, SPEEDZONE DP is an easy to install top speed limiter designed specifically for mechanical governor trucks.   Better yet, costs savings from driveline protection features in the system help pay for the cost of fitting older trucks.

SPEEDZONE DP™  converts a mechanical governor truck to drive-by-wire, thus enabling you to have all the features of  a DOT-Lok MPE/PACE-One MP combo with Traction Control.  The Speed Sensitive Shifting portion of the system reduces repair expenses associated with transmission abuse, torque converter failure, drive axle failure, flex plate damage, planetary shock load and tire wear.  The Speed Limiter portion gives you two top travel speeds. Like the combo system, travel speeds, shift speeds, engine braking, traction control, etc are all set via computer and uCal programmer interface.

The system is comprised of a control module with sealed connectors, a poteniometer, stepper motor, brackets, cable and wiring harnesses.   Most connections are plug and play.

The photo to the left shows a typical SPEEDZONE DP installation on a Toyota 7FGCU20.  A cable is connected from the throttle pedal to the SPEEDZONE poteniometer.  The throttle pedal position is relayed via the poteniometer to the control module.  A signal is then sent to a stepper motor which controls the vehicle's governor.  Brackets may vary slightly from truck to truck, but the design stays basically the same.
